I’m excited to share with y’all my review on a foundation I’ve been trying out recently! Estee Lauder is a brand that, in my opinion, has a reputation for being for more… mature women. As in, older women, more mature skin, etc. This is something I’ve always had in my mind regarding this brand, admittedly. However, I had used the Double Wear foundation years ago as a teenager and decided it was time to try it again after hearing a lot of hype about it recently!
Side note: I am wearing the foundation in all of the photos in this post!
Let me start with the BAD news. I am not a huge fan of the packaging of this product. I do not like that there isn’t a pump… you have to just basically pour the foundation out of the bottle. This is something that I think is kind of ridiculous actually! So, I use a blender sponge to apply, and I have to pour the foundation onto the sponge… which can be kind of messy and sometimes I feel that I use way too much product because of this. A little hack you can try is using the pumps that MAC sells for their foundations on this bottle… but I think it’s silly that consumers would even have to do this!
As far as the product itself, I really love it. I think the formula is flexible while still giving full coverage. It stays on pretty well, although compared to my Smashbox Studio Skin, I would rank it below that one. I think that my skin is going through some changes lately. I am getting a lot more oily throughout the day than I ever have before. So, with that being said, this foundation still seems to hold up pretty well throughout the day… I notice the areas that get the most oily are my T-zone which is pretty normal. It’s a long wearing formula which is usually what I use (here’s a link to a previous post with some other long wearing products I love)
The range of colors that this foundation has is impressive. They have a wide range of cool tones, warm tones, AND neutral tones. This is great for me personally because I am closer to a neutral skin tone that either cool or warm. This is the reason why I struggle with finding foundations that match my skin. So, I was really impressed with their color selection! The color I got was Wheat, and I honestly think I could have gone a shade lighter because this one seems a bit dark unless I am really tan. I’ve been balancing it out with a lighter concealer, though, so it’s been working for me.
I also really like that this foundation doesn’t have a scent to it. I recently tried out the Dior Forever foundation, and the smell was so amazing… but for people with skin sensitivities, this is a nightmare. The Double Wear foundation didn’t irritate my skin at all. I do not have super sensitive skin, but there have definitely been times when something is too fragranced that it has caused issues for me.
Overall, this foundation is a winner! I think it’s a really great product for a good price, and a little goes a long way, which means you won’t be replacing this product constantly. I highly suggest checking it out if you have not already! I also got to try out some of their other products, such as the bronzer, a lipstick, eye cream and moisturizer linked below. I really like these products as well, so far!
Have a great week, babes!
